Introduction
Welcome to mariafitzgibbons.com. I am dedicated to giving you the very best in lifestyle, cards, and crafts information, with a focus on quick and easy tutorials, helpful hints for card making and crafts, and new ideas of things to make in your crafty time. My plans also include writing lifestyle articles, including sharing information on understanding addiction. I don’t love cooking, but here and there I may have recipes that are either easy or worth the trouble or both.
Starting in January 2022 my passion for making cards drove me to start a blog about all the things I love and know. I hope to help people all over the world and am thrilled to share my passion with you. I would also like to let you know a little bit about me.
My goals
I am by trade a registered nurse and have worked mostly in hospitals for most of my career. I always say it is all I know how to do! My hope is to retire in a couple of years and spend my time crafting things and blogging. My favorite things to do are to spend time with my grandbaby, and my kids, make cards and crafts, shop, and travel.
I love animals, especially dogs, and I am planning to get a german shepherd from a rescue and train the pup to be well-behaved. This will be an ongoing project and it will take time, which is why I am waiting to retire before getting a dog. Realistically, dog training is really person training and I want to learn to do it right. I am also planning to begin affiliate marketing since I want to retire but I don’t want to lose my paycheck. If this is something you are interested in you can click here to find out how easy it is to learn this business and make money on autopilot once you get set up!!
Work
Currently, I work full time at a drug and alcohol rehab center where the ladies stay for about 21 days. They learn not to use drugs and alcohol to cope with life and we provide many other mental health services. I have personally experienced addiction and my job helps me to stay on track and appreciate where I am today.
Almost everyone who comes through our rehab has a dual diagnosis. This means that in addition to addiction, the clients suffer from another diagnosis such as depression or anxiety. I too have depression which is under control with medication. Having depression helps me to more fully understand what our clients go through, and I can better meet their needs having experienced it myself. I am mentioning this because I am where I am today because of my past. I feel that it is important to be honest about this subject. There is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to addiction and I would love to help others to understand that it is an illness. Even in this day and age, there are many misconceptions about addiction being a moral issue. Please feel free to ask me any questions in regard to this topic.
More about me
I am happily married and we have two grown children and a new grandbaby born last July. We have a black cat named Stella and we live in St. Louis County Missouri. Currently, I drive a black 2008 Honda CRV which is getting old but still runs great. We could get a new car but I really don’t care about that. I drive 50 miles a day to and from work and don’t want to get a new car to put a bunch of miles on it. My work schedule is 10-hour days Monday thru Thursday which is unheard of in nursing. In many ways, I am blessed and very fortunate.
Conclusion
